HFS Federal Credit Union is accepting applications for its 2016 scholarship program.
This year, HFS is offering eight scholarships in a total amount of $15,500 for Big Island high school seniors. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on a variety of criteria, including academic performance, achievements, community service and financial need.
Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and who will pursue their education at an accredited four-year college or university full time in the 2016-17 academic year are encouraged to apply for one of five $2,500 scholarships.
Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and who will pursue their education at an accredited two-year vocational-technical school or college in the 2016-17 academic year are encouraged to apply for one of three $1,000 scholarships.

Applications must be completed and postmarked by March 31. Applications also can be dropped off at any HFS FCU office.
